Although Hauler has no plans to stop offering on-line services to play multiplayer games over the Internet, on-line services are ephemeral and may stop working in the future.
To make sure Hauler keeps working, even when its on-line services shut down or stop working, you can configure Hauler to use an alternative on-line service by adding a specific file to Hauler's data folder.
Enter data disk mode
To start, you'll put your Playdate into data disk mode. Follow Panic's instructions for putting your Playdate into data disk mode.
Add the configuration file
With your Playdate in data disk mode:
- Open the Data folder, then open the dev.gurtt.hauler folder.
- In this folder, create a new file called .ipconfig.
The contents of the file should be the base URL of the alternative on-line service you want to use with Hauler. For example, the default on-line service is https://hauleronline.gurtt.dev.
Once you've added the configuration file, exit data disk mode and open Hauler on your Playdate.
Use the default on-line service
To go back to using the default on-line service for Hauler, delete the file named .ipconfig from Hauler's data folder.
